OK, good news and bad news. The
good news is that I'm back to a normal schedule with work. The
bad news is that, since I was working practically every day last month,
I didn't get to take as many pictures. I DID, however, take quite a bit of concert shots. So this update is slightly less goofy...but hurry. Prices won't stay the same. Or rather... ![]() Well, one band that's really captured the attention of me and my little circle is called Midori. For the record geeks: Midori sound like "Junkyard" era Birthday Party, but instead of Nick Cave, they have a cute girl in a schoolgirl uniform. Although I wouldn't read too much into that word "cute." ![]() ![]() ...the ultimate rock star shot... ![]() "unhhh...BRAAAIIIINSSSSS......" ![]() "*sigh* Could somebody PLEASE check the fusebox? That's the third keyboard player this week." ![]() I also, surprisingly, got to see one of my more obscure favorites, Momus, play a free show at the Shibuya Apple Store. THAT was a weird day. ![]() ![]() Yep, just him and a laptop. And the patch isn't an affectation, he really did lose his eye. The story goes that he washed his contact lenses in Greece, and assorted little things started growing, and... ...let's move on, shall we? I also saw Boris and Sunn O))). Sunn O))) are famous for not having any songs. Basically, they play SOUNDS. It's a bit difficult to explain, but the experience of seeing the band is a bit like going to Niagara Falls. It's about the enormous FEELING. They wear monk robes and have copious amounts of fog. Oh yes, fog. In fact, here it comes. ![]() The pictures didn't come out, which is to say they came out PERFECTLY. ![]() Out of focus, vague, and color saturated. Yep, that was pretty much the show. Now go sit on a jet engine for a few hours to simulate the feeling. One more concert, this time from the band Spike. Who has a drummer that bears a striking resemblance to Jerry Lee Lewis. ![]() They're kind of a rockabilly throwback, but not in a purely nostalgic sense. There's a lot of noise to their rumble, even if they DO have an upright bass. ![]() ...and of course, a guitarist. With spectacular hair. ![]() Here he is with his hot Jayne Mansfield-esque fiancée: ![]() Oh yes, I FINALLY got a decent shot of Mount Fuji. Naturally, I got it during the rainy season. ![]() That's from the same place as this photo: ![]() Huh. Well, guess that's another photo I can add to my... ![]() ...along with these. HERE'S not something you'll see in the middle of a busy city in the States. A cat feeding her kittens in the middle of the sidewalk. ![]() ![]() I AM THE GOD OF HELLFIRE ![]() Well, Happy Father's Day, Dad, and everybody. Y'know, Dads always do their best, but they can't think of everything. Some things Dad just never gets around to telling you. That's why we have bumper stickers. So, remember... ![]() As always, mail me here. |
