OK, sorry
I'm late. Worked some odd days this week, had to do the late
shift on update night. Oops.
Let's start off with some instruction. ![]() Get to it. I'll wait here. OK. While you're eating, make sure your kid chooses an appropriate wine. ![]() "Hmm...Ripple, Night Train, or Mad Dog? I need to hurry, recess is almost over." An ad from a local English school: ![]() (Hint: the subject of the last sentence are plural.) OK, this past week, my friends Jon and Bonnie came from NY to celebrate their honeymoon here in Japan. Well, they went to Uji, but they spent a couple of days here with me in Tokyo. They also spent some time at the Hotel New Otani, which has some nice grounds. ![]() Here they are about three hours after landing, browsing the area. ![]() ![]() "Wow, I guess those fish really will eat anything you give them. Let me see your watch." We went to the Ueno Zoo, 'cause they like pandas (Jon's book Zen Shorts features a Panda named Stillwater.) It was...exciting. ![]() The Panda is the inanimate lump sleeping behind them. That said, there was some action to be had. Take the cranes. ![]() "Lemmie just life my leg here, and..." ![]() "DUDE! What, did you have chili for lunch or something??!?" When at the zoo, please observe the proper warnings. ![]() "Do not give the animals balls, for it will make them pregnant." ![]() "Warning: bears may fling small children at you." ![]() "Wow, you really got that up there. Who told you to put Pocky up your nose, anyway?" "Just wake me up when we get there, Mom." ![]() So after grabbing some American coffee... ![]() We went to see Hachiko. If you're unfamiliar, Hachiko was a dog that walked with his owner to the train station every morning, and back home every night. Problem is, said owner died one day, and the dog waited for him every day for eleven years. Eventually, a statue was erected, and it's now the busiest meeting spot in the World. ![]() The statue has magnetic properties. Note how my hair is drawn to it. ![]() Many pictures were taken this week. ![]() Including one with a panda that's a bit more hospitable. ![]() OK, that's the update this time around. As per usual, you can email me here. I'll leave you with some parting shots of the food available here. ![]() No thanks. As well as something so bizarre I can't quite believe I saw it on the sweatshirt on the woman in front of me at the grocery store. ![]() Mom, are those gorillas fighting? Until next time... |
