Willkommen.
Happy Easter.
![]() Last week, just after the last update, I went to my first hanami. Hanami is Japanese for "let's get drunk and look at the cherry blossoms." We did this in Omiya park, which, by all appearances, is haunted. By UFOs. ![]() ![]() ![]() The aliens don't look happy to see us. ![]() Well, OK, maybe the guy in the middle. Maybe he's just hungry. Anyway, I went after work, in my mafioso outfit. ![]() And yes, we got drunk and looked at the cherry blossoms. And, as per usual, ate my weight in cheese. Hence my smile. ![]() Oh yes, and there's that thing about Junko's dance group winning the Asahi Shimbun annuals. This is the oldest ballet competition in Japan. Unfortunately, pictures are verboten during the performance, but afterwards... ![]() ...we went drinking, which, if you've ever been in Japan, goes without saying. ![]() Even Twinkie Man showed up. ![]() So, congrats to everyone. We even had a party to celebrate, and to commemorate the occasion, we threw out the staleful straws and got some newful ones. ![]() We also got some snacks. ![]() Look closer. ![]() Fish and nuts, together at last. One thing you can always say about much of Japanese advertising, it has novelty value. ![]() These guys are the Goofus And Gallant of excretory functions. Gallant sits proud, together, doing his business with pride and maturity. Goofus almost lets his tie fall into the toilet! Bad Goofus! If you get tired of staring at 30 foot high men taking a crap, there's plenty more diversion. ![]() I can barely contain my excitement. OK, as always, thanks for clicking. I leave you with two things: the news that there will be a new Gamera movie: ![]() And some things I can't think of captions for. ![]() ![]() ![]() As always, mail me here. |
