Things are
treacherous here. We had snow.
![]() ![]() ![]() Granted, it was gone by 7:30 AM, but still. I barely got to work. I only got to work because I prayed to Action Jesus. ![]() ...and his pals. ![]() I always wondered if those guys hung out together. Anyway, on the way to work, I encountered a greyhound puppy. ![]() This thing was TINY. And trembling. I couldn't tell if it was trembling because it was cold, it was scared, or it was a greyhound. Maybe it was frightened by the evil confections around the corner. ![]() Entries numbered #273625 and 273626 in the "how could they not know?" sweepstakes: ![]() ![]() Vegetable Man, where are you? ![]() No, I don't get it either. Looking for a restaurant, it's nice to know that the local establishments design their signs for people who can't read the language. Case in point: it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that you can get meat here. ![]() Although, if you're not careful, you might end up with the World's Thinnest Pizza. ![]() Note the English on the Tabasco bottle in the back. A decent chunk of Japanese can't read English. Yet, there is still English labeling on food. Not even to identify it. It's just their slogan. Crazy. Whereas signs noting something that appears to be important remain impenetrable to the gaijin: ![]() Think the placement of the sign will clue you in to what it means? ![]() Guess again. On the opposite wall of the bathroom: ![]() This basically says "Don't eat here." Yes, there is a sign telling you not to eat IN A PUBLIC BATHROOM. Just in case you were considering it. OK, anyway. This past Sunday was Surugi's birthday. ![]() I got her three zombie movies: Night Of The Living Dead (which, despite her fascination with zombies, she had never seen) Land Of The Dead and Shaun Of The Dead. Finding an appropriate bag wasn't difficult, since I didn't even try. ![]() She turned 73. Her secret to looking young? Eating wine and cheesecake for every meal. ![]() Oddly, there appears to be some degree of Viking roots in Japan. ![]() ![]() ![]() ...or maybe not. OK, as usual, I'm tired, especially today, as I have no days off this week (long story.) As always, should you wish, you can email me here. Until next time. |
