Concept can be tricky.
Last time, I tried to do something different with the whole "green" thing. Problem is, a lot of people didn't follow the link on the bottom of the page. If you're one of those people, go back to the last page and click the last line. OK, anyway...let's start with a bit of holiday cheer. ![]() I don't know what Santa did to merit being bound, gagged, and thrown out on the balcony, but I'm getting out of here before I do it by accident. Hello Kitty's evil twin might come after me. ![]() Although Japan is not a Christian country, there are many celebrations that are more or less centered around Christmastime. ![]() Problem is, I have NO idea what prompted this particular parade (pardon the power lines, there's no getting away from 'em.) Just one of the random goofy things you see while walking around in Shimokitazawa on a Friday night: ![]() Man, I dunno. The last two weeks...have been eventful. My roommate left, I worked my normal days off, my house looks like a train ran through it, and I had to get all my stuff together to come back to the States for a week. Fortunately, my friends made sure I got out of the house at least once or twice. "Fortunately" being debatable. ![]() ![]() ![]() Surugi practicing for her career as a backup singer for James Brown. ![]() Torturing some poor animal. ![]() "I will make you pay one day, hairless ape." ![]() The latter pictures were taken at Kazuo's apartment. Here he is with Leona (on the left.) ![]() He lives there with the tortured dog and his "lesbian cat." No, I didn't ask for elaboration. ![]() Kazuo has some, uh, artifacts from the 80s. Like this concert program. ![]() No comment. I also saw another dance performance. No pictures, unfortunately, although I could sneak one shot in the lobby of the pre-show. ![]() The piece was titled something like "Weeds," and it defies description. Kind of like a dark, surreal fever dream where 30 dancers do things I can't imagine doing myself. My friend Haruko did the costumes, and I can't fathom the work it took to make 30 of those things. So I won't try. One place I COULD take pictures, however...I saw Boris again, this time in their own show. Benefit: longer playing time. Detriment: club was so small and crowded I couldn't raise my arms over my head. Got some decent pictures, though. Through the copious amounts of fog. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you feel like slogging through all 240 pictures, try here. OK, I'm getting on the plane in a few days, so the next update will be from the States. Of course, I might actually, see you while I'm there, so until then... Kampai! ![]() Again, email me here. Until next time. |
