OK, I'm
sort of settled at the
moment. Good thing too, as the rainy/insanely hot season has
started.
Apologies if this update turns out to be a bit disjointed. It was about 88 degrees today, with some ridiculous amount of humidity, and my clients have informed me that this Summer has been very mild so far. ![]() Now, it's not
that severe ALL the time. I did manage to get a few shots in
before the Apocalypse descended, mostly at Kita-Urawa Park.
![]() This is a musically themed fountain in the middle of the park (intriguingly, the best record store I've found yet is about 100 yards to the right.) ![]() I think water might shoot out the end. Just like real life. Elsewhere in the park, you can find such niceties as a touching tribute to the ineffectiveness of Japanese deodorant. ![]() Why are statues of, er, large women always reclining? Wouldn't it be more productive to maybe show them jogging or something? ![]() This is part of the Museum Of Modern Art in the park. Not really sure what the steel people are meant to represent, but it's probably telling that you can't actually get to those stairs. ![]() Some of the scenery in other places in the park: ![]() Even their pond scum is picturesque. ![]() ![]() OK, that's Kita-Urawa. My new hometown (Kawaguchi) has it's share of oddities. ![]() Is it just me, or does everything look like an amusement park here? OK, can you guess what kind of place this is a sign for? ![]() A...restaurant. Of course. What else could it be? It's heartening to know that Japan is an advanced enough society that one is allowed to feel their maximum in the privacy of their own home. ![]() It looks like the rising obesity rate here isn't just attributable to the arrival of fast food. They've got some rather odd ideas concerning exercise as well: ![]() A bank for people who are bad at math: ![]() Aw, Jeez. ![]() Warning: beware of children with exploding feet. ![]() Japanese women are very friendly, if a bit blurry: ![]() Even the goth chicks are giggly. ![]() Now on to...this. I'm assuming that the name is a takeoff on the word "shampoo," but generally speaking, the word "poo" in the vicinity of a dog does not inspire thoughts of cleanliness. ![]() This is an air freshener. Ahem. ![]() Well, this time I leave you in the capable hands of the Hat-San Family, who love the car very much. ![]() As always, you can mail me here should you so desire. Now, off to lose another 5 pounds of perspiration. |
